The Artists Gallery offers many opportunities for an artist to develop talents and gain recognition within the art and public community through publicity and promotional efforts.
Our group includes award-winning artists as well as emerging and novice artists. The Gallery is also a place where a free-flow exchange of ideas is welcome. Options LevelsResident Artist:
Studio space on the premise. Privileged key access 24/7. Art resource library. Framing services. Space in print bins and art card racks. Discounts on monthly exhibits. Work duties apply at this level. Studios range from 90 sq. ft. to 162 sq. ft. Exhibiting Artist: Wall/shelf space to exhibit. Art resource library. Framing services. Space in print bins and art card racks. Discounts on monthly exhibits. Work duties apply at this level or $30 will be added to rent. Invitational Artist: Participate in the monthly Exhibitions of choice. Receive the call to artists on a monthly basis via email. No monthly fee. There is an entry fee for each monthly exhibition. Each exhibition goes through a jury process for acceptance and awards. BenefitsGallery location-- Located just blocks from the oceanfront in the ViBe Creative District, we are accessible not only to area locals, but also to tourists and visitors coming to Virginia Beach.
Over 30 years of existence— Through the years the Gallery has established a large clientele. The growth of the number of artists also has been substantial and on-going. Association with other artists– the gallery allows artists to interact or collaborate on individual as well as group projects and in doing so, artists thrive and advance in their area of expertise. There is a business lunch meeting the first Tuesday of each month. Remote exhibits— We provide opportunities to exhibit work in outdoor exhibits and other indoor venues. Monthly themed exhibitions— There is a themed exhibit almost every month available to the artists at a discount. The monthly exhibit additionally brings in between 100 to 300 in attendance, giving exhibiting artists exposure for networking and possible sales. Exhibitions are judged for awards, giving artists an opportunity to add to their resume. |
Educational opportunities— The gallery provides space not only for artists studios, but also for workshops and classes which are available to artists for learning and teaching.
Artist expeditions- On occasion there will be opportunities for a group of artists interested in paint-outs and art-related field trips. Internet exposure on website– The Artists Gallery website provides space for each individual artist to display an image and be linked to their own personal website. The Artists Gallery also has a fan page on Facebook for advertising ongoing projects. Receptions– Artists are expected to help out in our receptions. There are several committees available to volunteer or chair. ObligationsAs an all-volunteer organization, Resident and Exhibiting Artists have expectations for volunteering and supporting The Artists Gallery on a shared schedule basis.
All other volunteers are welcome, and we will easily find a way for you to help! Residents and exhibitors are expected to participate in receptions, on committees and attend the monthly meetings. Monthly rent is due in a timely fashion. In addition to paying for exhibition space, rent also helps to cover the cost of advertising, utilities, postage, maintenance, gallery supplies and organizational needs. Artists must have a business license and local Tax number. Other fees$25.00 fee to be juried in.
