My Mother's Violets Collection
My inspiration for all my work resides in the beauty of what surrounds us that we too often pass through without seeing. The small creatures, the symbiotic relationships and all the colors and patterns of life.
My medium, glass, allows me to express these colors and patterns in real time within the flame of a torch. Always moving, changing… nothing is unaffected by what surrounds it. As I walk through my garden of life, I find that I too am part of the web that connects all living things. My passion is finding the voices inside the idea and that glass so that they may sing together. |

Kathy grook
Kathy and John Grook are natives of Hampton Roads VA and grew up loving the sea. They both attended Old Dominion University and together served over 60 years in City Government. Since retirement, they now spend their time between Cape Charles, VA and Florida. A love of the sea inspired them to start searching for sea glass and Kathy soon began to design jewelry and gifts. Her designs are unique and none of the sea glass is altered in any way. Most of the collection comes from the Chesapeake Bay.
Kathy is also an artist of acrylic and oil paintings and specializes in still life, landscapes, and seascapes. John and Kathy have a passion for mission work and the profits from their business go to help various causes like the homeless, children’s ministries and international missions in Honduras, Nicaragua, Jamaica and Haiti. |
new judy jackson
Judy’s journey into the world of art began unexpectedly, guided by the patient encouragement of her sister-in-law who introduced her to the magic of oil painting five years ago. From that moment, she was hooked. Since then, she has delved deeper into the realm of artistic expression, recently exploring the medium of watercolor.
Though Judy had only a few lessons, her passion for painting knows no bounds. She finds joy in both plein air and studio settings, each offering its own unique inspiration and challenges.
When Judy is not painting, you'll often find her immersed in activities with her husband, children, and grandchildren. From Paverpol sculpting, woodworking to welding, from gardening to tennis, and from pickleball to exploring new destinations, she embrace the vibrant tapestry of life with enthusiasm.
Judys studio is a reflection of her eclectic interests, where her artwork is displayed alongside a few of her creations from her other hobbies. I invite you to explore Judys world of art and beyond, where creativity knows no limits. For those who share her passion or wish to embark on their own artistic journey, she offer private lessons tailored to individual interests and skill levels. You can follow Judy on her Facebook page “Artattack”

They say that an artist’s voice is a unique and recognizable artistic style that is distinctly your own; your inspiration, your materials, techniques, themes and color palette all working together in a way that looks like it comes from you and no one else.
I read in one of the many, many art blogs I have perused over the years: many artists grapple with finding their voice, but most don’t realize their voice is there from the beginning, they just need to hear it and follow it. This is the reason we always refer to finding a voice, not developing one. This idea that the voice is there all along but that you just have to pay attention to it – finally notice it. This concept caught hold of my imagination. If my artwork is going to be a personal representation of who I am as an artist – as a person with a story to tell – I will create a body of work that mirrors my life experience; that contains flashes of insight I have gained along my path to self-discovery . A sort-of artistic journal with a twist: I will create drawings and paintings of sparrows living moments of my life. |
namiko mahony
Namiko Mahony is originally from Japan. I loved drawing and sketching from a young age. Both of my parents were very artistic, my mother practiced Sumie and Kamakura Bori (woodcarving) and my father enjoyed Shodo (Calligraphy). I took art classes during my younger years and I learned by watching my family and taught myself. I never lost my love of painting, sketching and photography. While I had free time, I started taking photos for my paintings, such as flowers, birds, landscapes and buildings and captured many inspiring places and things. I started taking classes in acrylic and watercolor and was a student on and off for the next five years. I eventually found and joined The Artists Gallery in 2012 and have enjoyed the many artists, shows and Plain Air events. I am also a member of Chesapeake Bay Watercolorist. My paintings are colorful and detailed work, almost like a photograph, but It’s handmade. I start out sketching and as I find my creative inspiration will add the detail and color. My paintings take their inspiration from nature and life.

shawmei shen
Shawmei Yu Shen was born in Szechwan, China, graduated from the National Taiwan Academy of Arts. She later came to America obtaining her B.A. degree from the Baylor University, Texas. She pursued further art studies at the Art Institute of Chicago and graduate artwork at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Her paintings have been featured in art galleries and museums in several states in the U.S. as well as in a number of Asian countries. The beauty of her art work is everlasting and can be cherished for many years to come. Both private art lovers and institutions have been enthusiastically collecting her work. The Donald Art Company of New York, one of the oldest art publishers in this country, publishes reproductions of her work. |
